Narcotics Control Bureau has now arrested Sushant Singh Rajput ‘s personal staffer Dipesh Sawant. On Friday the NCB had arrested brother Showik of Rhea Chakraborty and house manager Samuel Miranda of Sushant in connexion with the ongoing drug investigation. Dipesh Sawant will be presented in court tomorrow.

Speaking to ANI, KPS Malhotra, Deputy Director of Narcotics Control Bureau stated, “Dipesh Sawant arrested by NCB for his role in procuring & handling of drugs. He has been arrested based on statements & digital evidence. He will be produced before court tomorrow at 11 am. Cross-examination of arrested people underway. He will be produced before the concerned court at Esplanate Court at 11 am. In ongoing investigation, 7 persons arrested & 3 (Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda & Zaid) are on NCB remand.” Previously, reports suggested that Dipesh may have some important information since he was employed at Sushant’s residence. Dipesh has already been questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation, who is looking into the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput.

The Narcotics Control Bureau have already summoned Rhea Chakraborty and the actress is likely to join the investigation tomorrow. While speaking to the media, Mutha Ashok Jain, Deputy DG, South-Western Region, NCB in Mumbai, had stated, “Today we have obtained the police custody remand of two more persons so that makes four people in our custody remand. We will be asking her (actor Rhea Chakraborty) to join the investigation, and maybe to some other people as well.” After several WhatsApp conversations about drugs were leaked, the NCB started probing the drug abuse angle in Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

In its application seeking Mr Chakraborty custody, the NCB said he had “given so many names with whom he was dealing in drugs” and will now be confronted with his sister Rhea Chakraborty, who is likely to be summoned for questioning on Sunday.

Various angles surrounding the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, are being probed by three federal agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the NCB.

Under intense media glare for nearly three months that spiked after Sushant Singh’s father accused Rhea Chakraborty of driving him to suicide, the only arrests in the case so far have come from the angle of drugs possession.

The NCB, which usually probes drug cases involving several kilos of contraband, admitted that the arrests over such small amounts of marijuana is uncommon.

“Narcotics Control Bureau is the uppermost agency for enforcement of anti-drug laws. We look at international connections and intra-state connections. Normally this is not part of our mandate but now that we are getting information we cannot shirk our responsibility,” Mutha Ashok Jain, the Deputy Director General of NCB, said.
