French illustrator and graphic designer, Marie-Charlotte Yao, has always taken an interest in doodling, starting right from when she was a child. Now that she’s expecting a child herself, she’s taking inspiration from her own life to create illustrations that depict, accurately and hilariously, what a woman goes through during pregnancy.

she describes what inspired her work, saying, “I think all of it (pregnancy) was so new to me and I kept finding myself in some pretty unusual situations and thoughts, and I wanted to be able to remember them and share them, for example, with my close friends who don’t have children yet. As an illustrator, I couldn’t find a better way to express all these feelings.” She started sketching on her iPad while she would commute, and during all her free time, and the results are absolutely amazing. Yao is also planning to show this project to her daughter, who is due in July, as a “fun project to show my future daughter (‘See, what’s Mummy went through?’).”
