The legality of cannabis for general or recreational use varies from country to country. Possession of cannabis is illegal in most countries because of the agreement about Indian hemp, also known as hashish, in the International Opium Convention. However, many countries have decriminalized the possession of small quantities of cannabis.
When it comes to cannabis, every country has its own special relationship with the herb. Acceptance of marijuana ranges from “we respect your right to partake” to “we’re sentencing you to life in prison.”
