Put those together and you get a third—experience! True, you don’t always get the best crowd in most places; but then, that is also true of some of the more urban and slightly overpriced places in the capital. 7. Sam’s Café

7

Where do we start about Sam’s good old café? It’s one of the oldest cafés to have graced the capital and still maintains the old world charm about it. What’s so great about Sam’s Café? To begin with, its location—in the confines of Paharganj, easily one of the older areas of the city; the crowd it draws is mostly the expats from different parts of the world; so it’s quite the cultural experience. Because of its exotic and varied crowd, the pricing of drinks and food is so surprisingly low, given its international standards and offerings. Yes, over the years, it has deteriorated but, that’s only because fancier places have come up in the bustling areas of Delhi and taken over most of the crowd, except the patrons who still go there. We personally recommend trying the lasagna at Sam’s while sipping leisurely on your beer.

It’s been one of Delhi’s favourite hangout joints post work, courtesy of the lucrative Happy Hours’ offers, especially on beers. Team that with their food menu which is just as great to try and the good music; you’re pretty much sorted. The crowd remains a blend of new experimentalists and old patrons who continue to come there for the charm of the place. The lowest ranges start from Rs 125.
