Superstars like Mahesh Babu, Samantha Akkineni, Anushka Shetty and other south celebs thank Dhoni for his contribution to the game, after he announced his retirement from the International Cricket on 15th August, 2020.

MS Dhoni declared his retirement from International Cricket on Saturday, as he brought down the curtain on his 15-year career as an Indian cricketer when he posted on Instagram calling for an end to his international cricket journey. “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired,” MS Dhoni wrote along with an Instagram post of a montage capturing his career with the national team.

MS Dhoni was one of the best wicket-keepers playing international cricket and his record speaks for itself. The 39-year-old last played semi-finals against New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester for India in the 2019 World Cup.

Just like many other B-town celebs, superstars from south have also thanked the former captain through their respective social media posts. Superstars like Mahesh Babu, R Madhavan, SS Rajamouli, Samantha Akkineni, Anushka Shetty, etc shared their happy moment with MSD calling it as an end of an era.

Baahubali and RRR helmer SS Rajamouli wrote, You entertained us! You made us proud! More than that, by staying calm in nerve racking moments, you inspired us! This is a moment that is very hard to take… You will be a torchbearer for generations to come… @mahi7781 Sir, Thank You.. 

Actress Anushka Shetty shared the picture of MSD and wrote, “You made us believe in the belief of being champions after champions, as a pride we owned every championships under you You taught us how to make winning a habit… A signature habit indeed. You made every cricket fan’s dream a reality and ended up putting us in the reality of your retirement‬ Yes, it does hurt but still we are with you in believing that the seeds of inspiration, championship you sowed in young cricketers will grow up to be champions. Congratulations for your achievements and my Best Wishes for your Next innings MS Dhoni”.

RHTDM star R Madhavan shared a pic of him with MSD and Raina and wrote, “@mahi7781 ..Bro you always were super CLASSY, STYLISH AND HUMBLE. I have always admired you demure and grit. Aur अलविदा कहने का आपका अंदाज़ दिल छू gaya और आंसू भी ले आए। what an appropriate song you chose ….I smiled and had tears at the same time. God bless you with the very best in the next phase of your life my bro.. This year has forced us to take a lot on our chin but this was one tough blow .. cricket will never be the same again for me ..”

In January 2019, Dhoni added another feather to his cap as he became fifth Indian and 12th overall in ODI history to score 10,000 runs. The former India skipper achieved the milestone during first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 12.

Dhoni joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Kumar Sangakkara, Brian Lara and Sanath Jayasuriya on the elite list.

Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India lifted the 50-over World Cup in 2011 and the World Twenty20 in 2007. Dhoni also led India to the ICC Champions Trophy triumph in 2013 in England.
