Fans of Game of Thrones are in a serious love-hate relationship with the show. We love the incredible storytelling, the intrigue, and the dragons; we hate how every character we love is brutally murdered before our very eyes. And we miss those dead characters so much.

It already feels like a long time since season seven of Game of Thrones came to an end, zombie dragon and all and we seriously can’t wait for the next season to begin. No firm broadcast date has been given for the final series, but HBO confirmed in an official statement that Game of Thrones will return for its  final season in 2019.

Game of Thrones will return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019.
David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the directors for the new season. Writers for the new season are David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.
There are rumors all around that a Stark reunion is as imminent as the Wars to Come– and the rumors come from the Stark patriarch himself, Sean Bean.
“Conan O’Brien did this thing. It was the last episode, so we all got together,” he said to a reporter. That’s right, Bean let it slip that O’Brien, star of his namesake talk show Conan, has filmed a reunion special to celebrate the last season of Game of Thrones.
“It was for season 8, the last one. So they decided to get all the characters together for a bit for this big show in Belfast and [O’Brien] kind of hosted the evening.”

HBO has not yet confirmed the existence of such a special, but we’re don’t see any reason why Bean would lead us astray. Other than, of course, the notion that Game of Thrones lives to toy with us, and we enjoy every moment of it. In our hearts, Ned Stark is still happily watching his children practice archery at Winterfell and playing with their direwolf puppies.
One character we know won’t make a comeback? Viserion, the beloved dragon, who is now a zombie ice dragon and haunts our nightmares.

Maisie Williams recently revealed on social media that she’d finished her scenes on season eight and shared a shot of a bloody-looking pair of shoes.
She captioned the Instagram snap: “Goodbye Belfast. Goodbye Arya. Goodbye Game of Thrones. What a joy I’ve had. Here’s to the adventures to come #lastwomanstanding #barely #immasleepforthenextfouryears #justkiddingidontsleep.”

Her post suggested that Arya will make it to the end of the show even though the body count will be high. Nevertheless, in a further twist, Cersei Lannister actress Lena Headey seemed to confirm that Arya would sit on the Iron Throne after she commented underneath the image “QUEEN”. All these rumors have got us wondering, will Arya Stark finally WIN the ‘game of thrones’?

For all the fans of GOT, 2019 truly can’t come soon enough.
