I’m sure I won’t be breaking any hearts by saying that our Indian society is full of hypocrisy. Remember those good manners charts which you were told to study in your school since they told about the good values which you should incorporate. Only after growing up did you realize that they were nowhere to be seen. We say something else and do something else! And our Indian government seems to be the epitome of it when it comes to hypocrisy. Banning a string of movies one after another due to provocative and bold content, they have barred movies which held strong content. Here is a list of five such Bollywood movies which got disqualified from the Censor Board due to the fear of hurting sentiments of people:

h5>Although Parzania got screened in other parts of India, it did not release in Gujrat. The term “Parzania” means heaven and hell on earth. It was released in the year 2007 and was co-written and directed by Rahul Dholakia. It is among the few Bollywood films based on true stories which did exceptionally well due to its strong content and flawless performances.  A parsi family here struggles to find their son amidst the Gujrat riots where over 2000 Muslims lost their lives in Gujrat. The film even won a National award but did not see light in Gujrat where it was strictly banned. Although it is an intense movie, it makes for a must watch! But if you are more into light-hearted movies, go for Bangistan releasing this month.

There are a multitude of movies releasing these days based on burning topics but fail to provide substance in their plot. “The Pink Mirror” was however an exception but the movie got banned. Based on the sensitive topic of gender issues, the movie is based on the concept of trans sexuality. As described by IMBB, the movie is a fun look into the lives of homogender. The movie is based on an award winning drama but was still seen as vulgar by the censor board.

Starring Seema Biswas in the main character, the movie went on to receive National film award for the best feature film in Hindi and even Filmfare Critics award for the best movie.
